Trimshatkot`iir hiran`yasya braahman`eebhyoo dadau punaha naanaabharan`avastraan`i mahaarhaan`i cha Raaghavaha.6-128-75 |
Rama again (punaha=again) gave Brahmins (priest caste) 300 million gold coins, expensive jewels and garments.
Comment
*Again --means twice. That is 600 million gold coins. What was the population of Ayodhya? How many Brahmins were living in Ayodhya? How much gold did Dasaradha and his ancestors give to Brahmins? How much did Rama give? Were Brahmins crazy and greedy of gold? Couldn't they have rejected it?
*What did Rama give to persons of other castes? Begging bowls?
